Week 12 of Virtual Design Festival features the marathon Sports Day event hosted by Nelly Ben Hayoun, plus a Screentime interview with Patternity and live panel discussion with The Artling and OMA.
Today, designer and amateur boxer Ben Hayoun will take over VDF to host Sports Day – a live two-hour-long conversation bringing together designers and sports personalities to discuss the relationship between sport, the design industry and wider society.
Among the 11 participants tuning in for the event are designer Yinka Ilori, Google creative lab director Tea Uglow and Design Indaba's founder Ravi Naidoo.
This week's Screentime interview sponsored by Philips TV & Sound will take place on Tuesday with Anna Murray, the co-founder and creative director of London creative studio Patternity.
There will be several launches over at the VDF products fair, including designs by Stellar Works, Eyra and Devon & Devon, while New Designers, University of Indonesia and Vilnius Academy of Arts are among the curators of this week's school shows.
Closing off the week on Friday will be a live panel discussion with The Artling, an online art gallery with headquarters in Singapore, addressing how it helped to integrate art into OMA's Potato Head Studios resort in Bali.
Joining the conversation will be platform's founder Talenia Phua Gajardo, OMA's managing partner David Gianotten, creative director of Potato Head Group Dan Mitchell, and German artist Liina Klauss.

Designer and amateur boxer Nelly Ben Hayoun brings together a collection of designers and sports personalities to discuss how sport informs new practices in design and the wider society.
Taking part in the live conversation are designer Yinka Ilori, drag performer Joshua Grannell, also known as Peaches Christ, Google creative lab director Tea Uglow, Slowe Magazine-founder Ro Jackson, sportscaster Len Elmore, sports writer David Goldblatt, Design Indaba founder Ravi Naidoo, Hector Roca and Bruce Silvergrade of Gleason's gym, sneaker designer Aleali May, boxer Roumaysa Boualam and Lilli Barrett O'Keefe, project manager of the global network Football for Good.

Wednesday 1 July
Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council and Virtual Design Festival have joined forces in the aim of virtually exhibiting key collectible pieces from Irthi’s collection produced by Emirati women artisans.
This first part of the collaboration will consist of a panel talk to raise awareness of how contemporary design can help preserve local crafts and empower women artisans.

For the third and final part of VDF's collaboration with London Festival of Architecture, VDF will screen an architectural manifesto from interdisciplinary social design & urbanism practice Migrant's Bureau. The studio facilitates design interventions, research, podcasts and community workshops for both trans-local and global disenfranchised & migrant communities.
