AVL Office Chair by Joep van Lieshout for Lensvelt

AVL Office Chair by Atelier van Lieshout for Lensvelt

VDF products fair: The AVL Office Chair, designed by Joep van Lieshout for Dutch furniture brand Lensvelt, has graced a variety of interiors, from Amsterdam's Stedelijk museum to 2014's Nuclear Security Summit.

This universal appeal was achieved by adding an angular, Cubist seat to a classic multipronged base with five castors.

The back and armrests consist of rectangular slabs, which can be upholstered in various colours and lend an air of minimalism to an often overcomplicated furniture piece.

To create a comfortable seat despite its sculptural silhouette, the AVL Office Chair can be adjusted in height and tilt.

Van Lieshout developed the product to complement his wider AVL office furniture collection for Lensvelt because he was unable to find a design on the market at the time that matched its considered simplicity.

Beyond the Office Chair, the series also includes a wooden chair, armchair and workbench, all of which are currently on show as part of the VDF products fair.
