Dezeen Showroom: an abstract interpretation of a rural landscape by American architect and furnituremaker George Nakashima adorns the Conoid II rug, which has been reissued by Tai Ping Carpets.

First produced in the late 1950s, the Conoid II rug is distinguished by five bold streaks of colour that overlap at angles against an almond-white backdrop.

According to Tai Ping Carpets, the design is intended as a reference to pastoral landscapes and offers an insight into Nakashima's true style, in which nature played an "integral role".

The product is made from 100 per cent New Zealand wool and hand-crafted using a loop-pile weave to create a textured finish.

It forms part of the Edward Fields Home Collection, which was recently launched by Tai Ping Carpets' subsidiary Edward Fields Carpet Makers.

Conoid II is one of nine rugs in the collection, four of which will be featured on Dezeen Showroom over the next week.

Each piece is available in a predefined size of 2.4 by three metres to reduce the cost and manufacturing time associated with bespoke rugs.
