Hand-blown Dune pendant light by Mayice Studio for LZF Lamps

Dezeen Showroom: Madrid's Mayice Studio has designed a pendant light for LZF Lamps, which is clad in a single piece of hand-blown borosilicate glass.

Called Dune, the design consists of a tube that is regularly shaped on both ends but balloons out into a bulbous, organic form in the centre.

Contained within this glass shade is a long LED rod, with a wood veneer diffuser and an underside that gapes open like a seed pod. This allows a gentle, indirect light to spill out, which is further softened by the glass.

The Dune light features a shade made from a single piece of hand-blown glass

Each piece is realised by Spanish artisan Eduardo Garuti and finished with his signature.

"With mastery and great dexterity, Garuti is able to reveal the natural beauty found in glass," said LZF Lamps.

"Each Dune lamp is unique. The beauty found in the imperfection of hand-blown glass, with its almost wabi-sabi quality, ensures it is like a piece of art."
