Dezeen Showroom: acoustic panels of two different thicknesses are combined to form Fylo, a multidimensional wall cladding by Swiss brand Impact Acoustics.
Fylo is made from a proprietary material called Archisonic, which looks and feels like felt but is made from recycled plastic bottles.
To create the cladding, two versions of this material – the standard 12-millimetre kind and a high-performance 24-millimetre variant – are layered on top of each other to create a dynamic, almost sculptural effect while helping to better absorb sound.
The panels are available in a tightly curated palette of 26 colours, created in collaboration with trend forecasters Colour Hive.
"Fylo is a design that transcends boundaries," said Impact Acoustics. "It can be used in offices, living rooms, hotels or even a hospital."
Previously, the brand has presented a range of soundproof booths called Chatpods on Dezeen Showroom that are made from upcycled materials and can be fully recycled at the end of their life.
