Dezeen Showroom: Danish design company Fritz Hansen has reintroduced its N02 Recycle chair, which was created by Nendo from recycled plastic, with a range of new features.
Nendo founder Oki Sato was inspired by a piece of folded paper on his studio table, which gave the piece its signature back crease. This creates extra back support as well as being decorative.
The N02 Recycle chair is made from household plastic waste that has been processed and recycled in Europe and can be recycled again at the end of its life.
Updated features for the stackable chair include new bar and counter heights as well as a new transport dolly and invisible protection for stool footrests.
The design comes in seven different colours that reference the warm hues found in Scandinavian nature and was conceived as a meeting of Scandinavian and Japanese design languages.
"Collaborating with studio Nendo meant the design would be simple and elegant – the perfect blend of Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics," said Fritz Hansen's head of design Christian Andresen.
Last year, the No2 Recycle chair was awarded the EU Ecolabel for its N02-10 and N02-11 versions with powder-coated legs.
