Dezeen Showroom: Dutch studio Jess has introduced the playful Shuffle sofa, part of a collection created by industrial designer Robert Bronwasser that also features armchairs, chairs and tables.
The Shuffle sofa has curved corners and clean lines, and was designed to broaden Jess' collection with an innovative style.
It was created to be sat on in two different ways, through the use of angled backrests.
"This dual functionality aspect is something that has never been seen before," Bronwasser said.
"It means that the items of furniture can either be used separately or in combination with each other. This makes them great for domestic use but also perfect for hotel lobbies, restaurants and reception areas."
The Shuffle sofa has a steel frame and a covering made from animal-free Luxor leather that has been drum-dyed with aniline dye stuffs.
Once dyed, a vacuum drying system enables the leather structure to keep its compact fibre to avoid looseness in usage.
The leather is then treated with wax before being tumbled in a wooden mill, which creates a broken-grain effect, and plated to obtain its final smooth look.
The sofa comes in two different lengths, 140 centimetres and 155 centimetres, as well as in a chaise lounge version.
