Dezeen Showroom: informed by Harry Bertoia's midcentury wire seats, Michael Young has bent steel into organic shapes to create the Wired chair for La Manufacture.
The Wired chair is an updated take on steel seating, with the wire coated in muted colours and bent into rounded shapes.
The resulting pattern evokes the veins of a leaf, with a long, central line acting as the stem.
Young said that Bertoia's Wire chair was a major inspiration to him as a young designer and that he developed his own affinity with bent steel while working at Tom Dixon's studio in the 90s.
"This chair was essentially born of one of my experiments with building seat structures," said Young. "And the stunning design that came out of it is only a gratifying part of this process."
Made by French brand La Manufacture, the Wired chair is available with four legs or sled legs and suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.
